Layers of thinly sliced sweet potatoes baked in a rich, cinnamon-infused cream sauce with a buttery brown sugar topping.

Ingredients

3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/8-inch thick

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup light brown sugar

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.

2.Whisk heavy cream, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl.

3.Toss sweet potato slices in the cream mixture until well coated.

4.Layer the potatoes evenly in the prepared baking dish.

5.Mix melted butter and brown sugar; drizzle over the top layer.

6.Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

7.Remove foil and bake for 15 more minutes until golden and tender.

8.Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a mandoline for perfectly even potato slices.

Substitute pecans for walnuts if preferred.

Make ahead by assembling and refrigerating for up to 24 hours before baking.
