Authentic restaurant-style General Tso’s chicken with an extra crispy coating and a perfect sweet-spicy glaze.
1.5 lbs chicken thighs, cubed
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger, grated
5 dried red chilies
Oil for frying
1. Coat chicken in egg and soy sauce, then dredge in cornstarch.
2. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy (3-5 mins).
3. Sauté garlic, ginger, and chilies in a clean wok.
4. Add sauce mixture (sugar, vinegar, soy) and simmer until thick.
5. Toss crispy chicken in the sauce to coat and serve immediately.
Use an air fryer at 400°F for a healthier version.
Double fry the chicken for maximum crunch.
Serve with steamed broccoli and jasmine rice.
