This Easy Homemade Alfredo Sauce recipe is creamy, cheesy, and ready in just 10 minutes. Better than Olive Garden and made with simple ingredients like butter, heavy cream, and parmesan.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup butter (salted or unsalted)

1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups freshly grated parmesan cheese

1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat.

2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant (do not brown).

3. Pour in the heavy whipping cream and whisk to combine.

4. Bring to a gentle simmer (do not boil) and cook for 2-3 minutes to slightly thicken.

5. Reduce heat to low and gradually whisk in the parmesan cheese until smooth.

6. Stir in salt and pepper.

7. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes until sauce coats the back of a spoon.

8. Remove from heat immediately and toss with cooked pasta.

9. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for the smoothest texture; pre-shredded cheese can be grainy.

Do not let the sauce boil once cheese is added or it may separate.

Sauce thickens as it cools; add pasta water to thin if needed.
