Tender beef meatballs simmered in rich marinara sauce, served in toasted garlic sub rolls with melted mozzarella.
1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
2 tbsp milk
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups marinara sauce
4-6 hoagie rolls
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp butter
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Mix beef, breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan, milk, and half the garlic.
3. Form into 1.5-inch meatballs and bake for 20 minutes.
4. Simmer meatballs in marinara sauce for 5 minutes.
5. Spread garlic butter inside rolls and toast until golden.
6. Fill rolls with meatballs and top with mozzarella.
7. Broil until cheese melts and bubbles.
Toast the bread first to prevent sogginess.
Freeze meatballs for up to 3 months.
Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
