A comforting and easy-to-make casserole featuring savory ground beef, tender egg noodles, and a rich, melty cheddar cheese topping.
1 lb lean ground beef
12 oz wide egg noodles
1 medium yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
15 oz tomato sauce
14.5 oz diced tomatoes, drained
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook noodles in salted water until slightly firm.
3. Brown beef and onion in a skillet; drain fat.
4. Stir in garlic, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and spices.
5. Simmer for 5 minutes.
6. Toss noodles with meat sauce and transfer to a 9×13 dish.
7. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
Use freshly grated cheese for better melting.
Can be assembled 24 hours in advance and stored in the fridge.
Substitute ground turkey for a leaner version.
